Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 22, 2026

The short version

Konteo is built so that your financial data stays yours:

  • Everything you record lives on your device. Konteo has no server that stores your financial data.
  • We use no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party trackers.
  • Cloud backup is optional and off by default. When you turn it on, your backup goes to your own Google Drive — not to us. We only request access to a private, app-specific Drive folder and cannot see the rest of your Drive.
  • Konteo Pro is a one-time purchase handled by Google Play. We never see your payment card details.

The sections below say the same thing in full detail.

1. Who we are

Konteo (the "App", the "Service") is provided by Konteo (the "Company", "we", "us", "our"), based in Colombia. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, where it lives, and the choices you have.

By using the App you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

2. What information the App handles, and where it lives

2.1 Data you create — stored on your device

The financial information you enter — transactions, amounts, accounts, categories, subcategories, tags, transfers, and the balances derived from them — is stored locally on your device in an on-device database. This data is not transmitted to the Company and we have no server that receives or stores it.

2.2 Your name — stored on your device

During first-time setup the App asks for a name so it can personalize your experience. This is stored locally on your device and is not sent to us.

2.3 App preferences — stored on your device

Settings such as your theme, language, haptics preference, number formatting, and privacy-mode choice are stored locally on your device.

2.4 Google account and Google Drive — only if you enable backup

Cloud backup and sync is optional and disabled by default. If you choose to enable it:

  • Google Sign-In is used to authenticate you. Google provides the App with basic Google account profile information (such as your name and email address) to identify the account being used for backup.
  • The App requests a single, narrowly scoped Google Drive permission: https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata — classified by Google as a non-sensitive scope. This grants access only to a private, application-specific folder (appDataFolder) in your own Google Drive. The App cannot see, read, or modify any of your other Google Drive files.
  • Your backup — a copy of your Konteo data — is stored in your own Google Drive in that private folder. It is not stored on Company servers, and we cannot access it except through the authorized session running on your device.
  • The access token that authorizes Drive requests is stored locally on your device.

You can turn backup off, sign out, or revoke the App's access to your Google account at any time (see Section 6).

2.5 Konteo Pro purchase — handled by Google Play

If you buy Konteo Pro (a one-time in-app purchase), the transaction is processed by Google Play, not by the Company. Google Play handles your payment; we do not receive or store your payment card details. To unlock and restore Pro, the App reads your purchase/entitlement status for the Pro product from Google Play (for example, a purchase token identifying that the product was bought). Your use of Google Play is subject to Google's own terms and privacy policy.

2.6 What we do not collect

The App contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or third-party tracking software. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell your data, and we do not operate a server that logs your usage or IP address.

3. How the information is used

  • Data you create, your name, and preferencesare used solely to provide the App's features on your device.
  • Google account and Drive access are used solely to back up and restore your data to your Google Drive, at your request.
  • Purchase information is used solely to unlock and restore Konteo Pro features.

We do not use any of this information for advertising or for building user profiles.

4. Google API Services — Limited Use disclosure

Konteo's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, data accessed through Google Sign-In and the Google Drive drive.appdata scope is used onlyto provide the App's backup and sync feature to you. This data is not transferred to others except as necessary to provide the feature (i.e., stored in your own Google Drive), is not used for advertising, and is not read by humans unless (a) you give explicit consent for a specific support issue, (b) it is necessary for security purposes, or (c) it is required by applicable law.

5. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

The only third parties involved are those necessary to provide features you choose to use:

  • Google — Google Sign-In and Google Drive, used to back up your data to your own Google account at your request.
  • Google Play — processes the optional Konteo Pro purchase.

We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or to protect our legal rights, but because your financial data is stored on your device and in your own Google Drive, the Company does not hold that data to disclose.

6. Your choices and rights

Because your data lives on your device and in your own Google account, you remain in control of it:

  • Access and edit all your data directly in the App.
  • Deleteyour data using the App's delete and reset features. Uninstalling the App removes the on-device data.
  • Disable cloud backup at any time in Settings. You can also delete the Drive backup from within the App, or directly from your Google Drive.
  • Revoke Google access at any time in your Google Account settings (Security → Third-party access), which stops the App from accessing your Drive.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection law (for example, Colombia's Law 1581 of 2012, or the EU/UK GDPR), including rights to access, rectify, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise any right or ask a question, contact us (Section 10).

7. Data retention

  • On-device data is retained until you delete it within the App or uninstall the App.
  • Your Google Drive backup is retained in your Google account until you delete it (via the App or via Google Drive).
  • The Company retains no copy of your financial data, name, or preferences, so there is nothing on our side to retain or delete.

8. Security

We rely on your device's security and on Google's infrastructure to protect your data, and all communication with Google's services uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keeping your device and your Google account secure is an important part of protecting your data.

9. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us.

10. International processing

If you enable Google Drive backup or purchase Konteo Pro, the associated Google services may process information on servers located in various countries in accordance with Google's own terms and safeguards. The Company itself does not transfer your data internationally, because it does not receive or store it.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy at this page and revise the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate. Continued use of the App after an update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
